B.R.O Constructs A Marvel of Engineering, Made Indians Happy
On Saturday 3rd October 2020, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Atal Tunnel and dedicated it to the nation.
The tunnel reduces the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 Km and provides an all weather road to Union Territory of Ladakh and Lahaul Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is 9.02 kms, the longest tunnel in the World at 10,171 feet above mean sea level. Built at the approximate cost of Rs.3,200 Crores, the tunnel is 25 Km from Manali and is named after former prime minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The Armed Forces will have an all weather access to Ladakh through the tunnel. It shall also boost the tourism in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
We salute the engineers of the Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation for successful completion of the tunnel, an engineering marvel.
