Many new characters are introduced in the season. Players now play to win face cards, the kings, queens, jacks of hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades.

Things brilliantly portrayed

Suspense

As said at the blog’s beginning, brilliant psychological techno thrilling story. It becomes mind-boggling, convinces the viewer about one thing, 

and something else comes up.

Character Building

The characters evolved. They display courage, team spirit, sacrifice, empathy, martial art skills, survival instincts, and more.

Arisu takes the first steps toward becoming a leader. 

Battles and Combats

Brilliant gun battles, hand-to-hand combats, especially with the king of spades. Excellent direction, acting and camera angles made the fight scenes extraordinary.

Things slightly overdone

Though the series is a must-watch, certain things are overdone.

The Melodrama

There are many aspects to this, but in some scenes and dialogues, the viewer would say, “Okay! I understand, but could you please stop saying this? I’m feeling awkward.”

The Dead Keep Coming Back

No, it is not a zombie movie or series, but many of the characters previously presumed dead in season one pop out of nowhere. 

Not just the dead from the previous season but from season two. The characters walk among and along with them. Even the ones brutally slaughtered.

The show becomes more exciting even with overly melodramatic scenes and the return of characters from the dead.

Expectations

Season two end reveals the truth and explains the cause behind the bizarre change in the world. However, a joker card on a table at the end returns the mysterious twist.

Usually, many card players place the joker card at the bottom of their pack while dealing, preventing other players from peaking at the card. These are also used as replacements for different cards.

That might indicate that the viewer has again been tricked and players are still in the game, suggesting that they have not returned to their original world.

So in season three, we can either expect the players to return to the world of games or the whole world will be forced to play games. One can expect a lot of thrill and suspense from the future series of the show.

Overall the show is absolutely a must-watch.

Movie

The first part premiered in March 2016, and the second part in August 2021.

The story revolves around a blind marine who fights intruders in the first part and saves his daughter from abductors in the second.

These movies aren’t regular commando action movies. The main lead Norman Nordstrom(Stephen Lang), isn’t some typical good guy. Viewers might hate him in the first part but pity him in the second.

Both the parts are a must-watch.

The Witcher

Series

The Witcher is a story about a warrior, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill). His only objective is to kill the monsters to protect his adopted daughter. The show currently has two seasons but is as good as Game of Thrones. It has magic, monsters, action, thrill, romance, everything to make it a great hit. It is a must-watch Polish-American fantasy drama.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf

It is a dark adult animated spin-off movie to The Witcher series. The story revolves around Geralt’s mentor Vesemir.

Though it is a must-watch, it is better to watch it after watching the first season of The Witcher series. The story will make more sense.

The film got nominated for Best Animated Special Production at the 49th Annie Awards.

Series

Another must-watch Korean Drama. The story focuses on a zombie apocalypse that originated in a school. Apart from zombies, the show also has mutants that are neither human nor zombies. Fighting through them are some small group of school students and a few survivors.

In seasons 9 and 10, Rick’s group faces a meaner enemy called the whispers. In season 11, they fight the Reapers.

Ozark

Series

Marty Byrde got involved in a money-laundering business for a drug cartel. Things take a sudden unexpected turn, and the cartel plans to execute him and his family. As soon as he is about to get killed, Marty tells them that he can launder substantial amounts of money in Lake of the Ozarks.

To survive, Marty and his family must complete their said task.

Many thought the initial episodes of the show to be slow. But viewers found that the series becomes interesting with every episode. However, the majority found it to be as good as Breaking Bad.

The final season which is season 4, is in two parts. In Jan 2022, the first part got released. The second will be coming on April 29, 2022.

Synopsis

The very first on the list is Breaking Bad. It is an evergreen show portraying the life of a chemistry school teacher named Walter White, recently diagnosed with lung cancer. He must prove himself worthy irrespective of the means, and during his struggle, he makes a lot of friends and foes. These new developments completely change his world. The show is based on a real-life drug lord Pablo Escobar and the two DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña, who ended his billion-dollar empire. Seasons one and two brilliantly portray his rise, expansion, and fall. Season three focuses on the rise and fall of the cartel that took over the business after the death of Escobar. The show is an absolute must-watch.

Army of the Dead is a zombie apocalypse movie. It has emotions, action, horror, and is gory. Although it had everything that could make it a hit at the box office, it could only perform on average.

It has ratings of 5.8 on IMDb and 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 75%. We rate it 3.5/5.

The overall story is predictable but certainly is good and watchable if one liked shows and movies of a similar genre. 

Waiting, Why, For Whom? Why Waste Time?

However, there would be times when one would raise the question, why do you want to do that? Like at one time, Scott Ward, played by Dave Bautista, says that they have only nine minutes, and after 4 to 5 minutes of intense fighting with zombies, before getting into the chopper, he wastes time looking and smiling at the faces of his team.

He could have got into the chopper and then smiled, kissed, and hugged them. Rest everyone got into the helicopter, and he kept standing on the roof. That scene was pretty annoying.

Blurry Background

The background was out of focus, making it difficult to watch, especially during the initial phases of the movie.

Scenes of Tig Notaro were even more blurry. Earlier Chris D’Elia was chosen for the role. The makers replaced him following several sexual misconduct accusations. The director Zack Snyder had to spend millions of dollars for the reshoot. So, the overly blurry background could have been because of the reshoot and the editing.

The Disappearance of Geeta

Geeta is a character played by Indian actor Huma Qureshi. 

Although her role was not much in the movie, she left a mark on the audience. However, during the movie’s climax, suddenly and abruptly, there was no reference to her. She suddenly disappeared after sitting in the helicopter and looking at the missile, and her disappearance was not part of the story. It was more of the sudden absence of the actor from the shot. 

Other Things in Army of The Dead

Because the employer who hired the team had sent a guy named Martin for keeping an eye on them, they all hated him. At least, this was what the rest of them were perceiving. Although, yes, he did turn out to be an as***e but, until then, how could one hate the other?

Forced tragic story and father-daughter relationship issues, seemed as if the director tried his level best to add emotional factor. But, to some extent, it did work. 

Risking the lives of her own family and friends to bring back a mother of two, who herself knowingly and willingly endangered herself, sounds stupid, but ok, we could digest it.

These are a few of the things that dropped the ratings from 4.5 to 3.5 out of 5. The movie could have better direction and editing.

Moral of the Story

Yes, one can take the moral out of a zombie movie.

1. Don’t carry zombies by road, even in a military convoy. If one has to transport them, do it by air.
2. While driving, keep the eyes on the road. Do other things once one is at the destination. This preventive action will even help to avoid a ticket from the cops.
3. When your boss says over the radio, “Get the hell out of there!” do it without asking, “Why?”.

By taking these simple precautions, one can prevent a zombie apocalypse.

Reasons To Like The Movie

To hell with logic, it’s a zombie heist film. The heroes are killing them, shooting them, exploding them into pieces. And it is too gory. Loved it!

Grab your favorite snack, ignore all of these observations and logic, and enjoy the film. Definitely waiting for prequels and sequels.

In war, there is no good or bad; it is either the living or the dead. King Alfred (played by David Dawson) preferred Uhtred (portrayed by Alexander Dreymon) as his top general because he was raised as a Dane and knew everything about them. Unlike Saxons who believed in one God and peace, Danes worshiped Gods of war; the latter seemed barbaric but were better war planners and tactical strategists.

Although Uhtred is a fictional character, he is the only reason Saxons could defeat the Danes in The Last Kingdom.

So, what made Danes better warriors?

Following are a few of those many qualities:

• Tactical strategies 
• Shield wall 
• The surprise element
• Guerrilla warfare 
• Topography 
• Timing 
• Planning
• Ruthlessness 

These tactics made Danes far better warriors than Saxons.

Saxons quickly understood the importance and incorporated most of these strategies and tactics but could not accept their Gods. They often addressed Danes as pagans due to their diverse religious beliefs.

Unlike most of the Saxons, the Danes were callous. Saxons thought of killing as a sin, whereas Danes enjoyed massacres, petrifying their enemies.

One of the advantages Danes had was the belief in Valhalla. This belief suppressed any fear of death. Instead, they thought of it as the ultimate goal and glory. The only fear they had was to die without holding a weapon. A weapon of any sort, without which they would rot in Helheim (Hell).

What sets Ozark apart from other crime dramas is its outstanding cast. The show boasts an exceptional lineup of actors who have delivered some of the best performances of their careers. Her only goal is to have a better life for Langmores. And to achieve that, she has been a loyalist to Marty Byrde.

Ruth’s relationship with her father

At first, viewers may have perceived Ruth Langmore (portrayed by Julia Garner) as a low-life individual who would eventually meet her demise at the hands of the cartel due to her excessive greed. However, as the series progressed, it was revealed that her desire for wealth and power stemmed from an extreme fear of her physically abusive father, Cade Langmore (portrayed by Trevor Long). Ruth’s body language conveyed her fear and distress whenever she interacted with her father, especially when he was released from prison on parole. Although sexual abuse was hinted at, it was later revealed that Cade was physically assaultive and had a quick temper.

Ruth’s body language displayed signs of fear and distress when she interacted with her father, especially during their meeting in prison. She was similarly uncomfortable when Cade returned from jail on parole, as he had previously assaulted her. His short temper, criminal tendencies, and resistance to positive change in the lives of the Langmores caused Ruth extreme distress.

Even though Cade had been a terrible individual, his love for Ruth could be seen when he was ready to fight the cartel, all alone. In another incident, he killed an FBI agent in rage when the latter said inappropriately about his daughter. Cade had been an important character, as his presence, actions, and thoughts greatly affected Ruth.

Her love for her father became evident when she came to see his corpse. However, she took Marty as a father figure, as the former lacked compassion as a human being. In one of the episodes in season three, she even compared herself with his daughter Charlotte Byrde. To be part of a regular happy family, she looked upon Byrdes.

It seems that she was looking forward to the betterment of Langmores. But her father shattered her belief by telling her that they were Langmores and their misery shall never change, as that was their fate and destiny. She hoped Marty would help.

Ruth’s loyalty toward Marty

Speaking of the betterment of Langmores, she made the difficult decision of killing her uncles to protect Marty. She knew that if Marty survived, he might pay her for her loyalties, eventually benefiting her and her cousins.

But her integrity never got her anything other than pain. She was brutally tortured for hours by the cartel, lost her family members, and got savagely assaulted by Frank Jr. Cosgrove, the son of the head of the Kansas City Mob. And above all, she lost the love of her life, Ben. She now believes that while she made extreme sacrifices for Marty, he, on the other hand, never took a stand for her, especially in saving Ben.

The change and its repercussions

The season three finale brings a change in the character of Ruth (Julia Garner) when she joins hands with Darlene Snell. Her character has evolved. However, her beliefs are different than the core reality. Marty did all that he could do. He even tried saving Ben. Her hate and anger are justified. But from her perspective, she is far from the whole truth.

So, we may first witness a revolt from her that may result in her death by the cartel. The other result could be her realization of the truth and coming back to support the Byrdes. Who knows, probably Ben never died.

To speculate with an optimistic perspective, by the finale of Ozark, we may see her as the kingpin running the cartel or may join Byrdes as a family, living a beautiful life. But as Marty says, “That’s a bunch of crap. Things happen because human beings make decisions, they commit acts, and that makes things happen. And it creates a snowball effect with the, you know, their world around them, causes other people to make decisions”.

In conclusion, Ozark is a show that stands out not only for its captivating plotline and exceptional cast but also for the outstanding performance of Julia Garner. Her portrayal of Ruth Langmore is one of the most memorable and complex characters in recent television history. With the final season on the horizon, it’s clear that Garner’s work in Ozark will continue to be a defining moment in her career.
